12 Way to Keep Visitors on your Website

December 23, 2014 by Dhananjay Goel

You might have worked very hard to design, make and maintain your website. Are you worried that your investment is going in vain. Do you feel that you are not getting the regular visitors for your website? Why anybody doesn’t continuously visits the pages of your website?

Track on Google Analytics

In many cases, a large number of visitors might visit your website per day, but those visitors might not be sticking to more than one page of your website. It is the most commonly faced problems by many of the owners of small business firms. There can be different problems at the back end that could affect the process of sticking traffic to your website. Don’t worry, along with the problems there are easy solutions for these issues as well. Keep in mind the fact that more people are going to stay on your website, greater are the chances for you to convince people for buying your products. Go to the Google Analytics Dashboard of your website and check the bounce rate. If the rate is more than 50 to 60%, or the average time spend on website is less than one minutes, and then be ready to take the following steps for your website to keep people stick to your website.

Use Alexa

Another simplest way to check the ranking and daily visitors for the website is Alexa. It is not as much trustable as google analytics but still very good to use. You just need to go Alexa.com, put the domain name of your website and you will get to know how popular your website is. It will explain the following categories also like Bounce rate, time a user give to the website and daily pages per day.

Weigh the email signup option

Many of the websites use the tactic of light box over the home page. It is used to increase the email signup for you website. But sometime, it can turn out to be bad for you and can act as instant turn-off pop up for the visitors. Check out the positive and negative effects occurring because of this tactic. Weight the benefits if they are more than risks, go for this tactic or otherwise quit it.

3-Click Policy

You should apply a rule of “3-clicks” to your website. According to this rule, everything on your website should be accessible to users with just three clicks. In the simple terms, we can say that your website should be easy to browse, surf and reach to the users. Otherwise it is tough for the visitors to reach your website.

Interlink the pages of your website

Another most useful tactic is to interlink all the pages of your website with each other. The content on your website should contain links to the other pages of your website in form of hyperlinks. You can links of the main pages of your website like FAQs, latest news or discount offers. In this way, visitors might go from one page to another causing them to stick on your website more.

Page should open fast

The speed for opening of any page on your website also matters a lot for sticking of traffic. Google says that normally a page should not take more than 4.9 seconds to get open completely. Images can be convicted for delay in opening of the pages. Make sure you don’t have heavy images on the pages of your website. All images should be compressed and properly edited. Too heavy videos could also create a problem for your website. It is always better to keep the videos on a different server.

Quality Multimedia

The next factor that should be pondered is multimedia. Relax; you should not produce some high quality stuff at your website. Just try to upload some video related to content on your webpage.

Feedback option about your services

You can also conduct a survey on your website for engaging the customers. If you have an e commerce website, try to make some feedback form for the customers. Ask different questions in that form so that you can get to know what they think of your products and services. These survey forms will also help the users to give a review about your website and services. Based on such reviews, you can make your website make better in near future.

Give Social Media Sharing Options

Give options to the users to make your website social. If the user is also using social networking sites while opening the page for your website, give him easy options to share the stuff of your website on his social networks. The social networks have become an important tool to increase the traffic. Just sharing the link of your page on social sites, it can reach to thousands of members in just one click. Make obvious the options of sharing the content on your website.

Links should be alive

You should also have a very close link on the website links. All links should be alive and working perfectly. Any of the bad links for your website could lose your customer. Once the customer is lost, it will not be possible for you to regain the customer. Just consider the fact that there is no excuse for any bad link for your website.

User-friendly theme

Keep your website simple and user friendly. The overall color and design of your website should be good for the customers. Color scheme of your website should not hurt your eyes. With multiple colors, the website may look good but actually it will disturb the readers’ visibility to read the content. So the layout and design of website should be simple.

Engaging content

Most of all the content in your website should be engaging for the customers. Best content is the one that could help you stand out from your competitors. Always keep the content on your website fresh. If visitors don’t find content informative on your website, do you think that they will come back. Content should not be of optimal length with easy to understand vocabulary.

With all these steps, you can easily make sure that the users will stick on your website. Do let me know in comments of any more methods.
